Springwood - 28th September

Date: 28th Sep 2018 @ 2:20pm

This week in Maths we have been working hard to improve our subtraction skills. We started the week by using counting up to subtract money and find change. By the end of the week we had progressed to column subtraction using exchanging. Everyone worked really hard as we turned those new skills to word problems. We thought about how to logically work through each problem, underlining the key amounts and to look carefully for clues about which operation we needed.

In English we have continued reading our class book 'Friend or Foe' by Michael Morporgo. We have also been practising inference skills, so we had to read a section and look for clues about characters' thought and feelings. This can be tricky but we are all making good progress at this skill.

In science, we started our new topic looking at materials, and reversible and irreversible changes. We had to think about what different properties materials had, and why they were chosen for specific objects. We conducted our own magnetism, transparency, flexibility and hardness tests.

In dance we have continued our topic of Rock and Roll and it was fantastic to see the children enthusiastically getting involved.
