Greys October 5th

Date: 5th Oct 2018 @ 3:08pm

Greys class have had another busy week.

In Literacy we have been using different adjectives and conjunctions in our writing. We wrote story openings and then edited and improved them, We planned our Big Write which was to write the story of Bad Jack and the Beanstalk and then on Thursday used all our ideas and thoughts to write our final version.

We began the week telling the time in Maths. The Year 1s were telling the time to the half hour, whilst the Year 2s were telling the time to the quarter hour on analogue and digital clocks. Then we started using different units to measure with. The Year 1s have used bead strings, cubes and metre sticks whilst the Year 2s have been measuring in decimetres, centimetres and metres.

We completed our learning about Plants, trees and birds and begin our new topic next week "Where do the leaves go to in Autumn?" In this topic we will be looking at the seasons and the different types of weather. Please remember to return your forms for our trip on Wednesday to Sutton Courtenay, in which we will be taking part in a Spectacular seasons day. The children will need to be in the classroom for 8:45 with a waterproof coat, wearing long trousers and wellies. They will also need a water bottle and packed lunch.

In Phonics the Year 2s have been working on the /j/ sound spelt with a g or j and the Year 1s have been learning the ey sound before moving onto the magic e or silent e words, which will continue into next week.

On Wednesday afternoon we went for a walk looking for signs of Autumn and amanged to find everything on our lists and more.

Thank you to all those parents who attended our Harvest service on Wednesday, I'm sure you'll agree that the children sang beautifully.
