English

We have been reading "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio and have been building up to writing a diary entry either as Auggie, the main character, or Via, his sister. We started our planning last week, and finished writing the entry this Wednesday. We have also compared two of Auggie's friends. It has been very enjoyable reading and writing about this novel, and are excited to finish the book next term.

Art

In Art lessons, we have learnig to scale up drawings. We started with a small picture of an animal. Then we drew a small grid on the picture. After that we drew a grid on a larger piece of card, and used it to help us draw our picture on it. We covered our picture in newspaper, and cross hatched it to give the picture a 3D effect. Finally, we cut it out and made a stand for it. We made a pet barn full of cats, dogs, chickens, pigs, squirrels and foxes. It was great fun!

P.E.

This year Springwood is working towards running a mile. We started off running a few laps around the common in the first few weeks of the term, and are slowly building up to running the full distance. Everybody has been working up to eight laps, and we can be timed when we feel we can run eight laps comfortably. Today everybody tried really hard to either set themselves targets or complete the full eight laps.
