Another busy week has flown by.

The children have worked really hard on their phonics and reading this week. 

A quick reminder to parents to record a brief comment in your child's reading record if you have listened to their reading.They really love your comments and we find this record incredibly helpful when deciding whether or not to allocate a new book to your child.

In Maths the Year 1 children were introduced to the concepts and Maths terminology : More, Less, Same, Greater than, Less than and Equal to. 

The Year 2's handled the section on 10's and 1's on a numbers to 100, really well this week.

The children completed their letters to the Naughty Bus, addressed their envelopes and posted them in our school letter box. Hopefully they should recieve a reply fairly soon! They aslo learned about verbs and practiced writing full sentences using captial letters, verbs and full stops.

In Science the children were fascinated by the strength of eggshells in our 'eggsperiment' which illustrated how the the dome shape distributes weight, pressure and force evenly, whch reduced the pressure on a single point. We looked at examples of this shape used in the construction of bridges.  

In History we talked about sources in recording historic events. We briefly discussed newspapers, journalists and press conferences. Then Orville Wright (A.K.A Mrs Tully dressed in jacket, tie and bowler hat) ansered questions posed by the children who were working in pairs. 

In Art the children used their observational skills to draw and colour beautifu autumnal leaves These will be completed and painted over next week.

Mrs Elson took the Greys children for dance on Monday. They learnt a 'Farmer's jig!' Then on Friday Grey's and Peppard classes had P.E. together; they had loads of fun following Pirate Captain Elson's orders and playing games.
