Highmoor 22nd September

Date: 22nd Sep 2023 @ 10:22am

Welcome to our week in Highmoor.

In maths we have been continuing with place value. We have been comparing numbers up to 10,000 for yr 4 and 1000 for year 3. We have been working with number lines figuring out what value different intervals represent and where to place numbers on the line.

In literacy we have finished the book The First Drawing and have produced some great creative writing. We are reading The Lost Spear as our class read this half term and have been having lots of great discussion around this.

We have produced some lovely drawings in art using charcoal based on the prehistoric cave art we have seen.

In history we have been thinking about how life changed for people from the Old Stone Age to the New Stone Age with the introduction of farming.

Whilst investigating sound in science we modelled how sound moves through solids, water and air by using our bodies. Our investigations demonstrated that our model was right and that sounds travel best through solids - it is all about the particles!!

In Computing this half term we are learning his to send emails and have spent a while composing one on paper and tinkering with gmail to familiarise ourselves with the functions on there.

Reading, Doodle maths, times tables and spellings  for homework as usual!

Have a great weekend all.
