Highmoor 29th September

Date: 29th Sep 2023 @ 2:08pm

Welcome to our week in Highmoor.

In maths year 3s moved on to addition and subtraction adding 1s, 10s and 100s to 3 digit numbers. Year 4 finished place value by rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. We will all work on column addition and subtraction next week.

In literacy we focused on speech punctuation to accompany images in the book Stone Age Boy. We imagined the conversation between the Stone Age girl and modern day boy when they met for the first time. We acted it out, drew a comic strip with speech bubbles and then wrote it out using the correct punctuation. We also continued with our poetry, writing tankas.

We investigated the Neolithic settlement of Skara Brae in history and learnt more about the lifestyle of people in the New Stone Age.

In RE we are learning about Hinduism and are enjoying finding out about the many different Gods and Goddesses and the stories involving them.

We had lots of fun exploring movement to, interpretation of and improvisation with music. You can see pictures of us enjoying 'The Locomotion!'

We have our trip next week on Tuesday to the Earth Trust for an Iron Age day. Wet weather shoes and coat and a packed lunch will be needed. Thank you again to FOPS for enabling us to go.

Homework is Doodle maths, times tables, reading and spelling. Spelling is Term 1A week 4 - they can be found on the website on our class page if children don’t have Diaries at home!

Have a lovely weekend all.
