Peppard class - 10/11/2023

Date: 10th Nov 2023 @ 11:00am

Welcome to our week in Peppard Class.

In phonics this week, we have learned the new phonemes and graphemes:

f ll ss j

We have learned the new tricky words:

put* pull* full* as

In maths this week, we have had a lot of fun experimenting with shapes.  We learned that we can draw a circle by starting from a central point and swivelling around.  We tried it outside in pairs before trying a compass.  Some of us made our own with woodwork tools.  We then had a fun art activity using colour mixing to replicate Kandinsky art, called Concentric circles.  Whilst we were painting, we enjoyed listening to some seasonal music from Vivaldi.

We also learned about triangles and the children identified features of a triangle.  We read the story Mr Rush and identified shapes in the story.  We also learned that the triangle has three angles.

We have learned some positional language and made maps after reading the story Rosie's walk by Pat Hutchins.

In Understanding of the world, we learned about Guy Fawkes and talked about Bonfire night.  The children shared their experiences of the festival and we also talked about safety.

We also learned about Remembrance and we were very proud of your children at the Church service.

We would like to invite you to join in with our phonics lesson next Friday morning at 9 am.

I have sent home some phonics information after our talk this morning.  Please do let me know if there is anything you are not sure about.
