Peppard class - 15th March 2024

Date: 15th Mar 2024 @ 3:04pm

Welcome to our week in Peppard class.

This week we have been using our phonics to write.  We have also been practising reading longer words and compound words.  Our tricky words are proving to be just that, tricky!  Please do visit the Little Wandle website page for parents to support your child with reading tricky words.

In maths we have been learning about composition of 10, doubles to 10 and odds and evens.  We enjoyed learning from some mathematical stories and we made our own Odd day pictures!

We have learned a couple of emotion poems.  In our PSE lesson, we thought about happiness and what makes us happy.

In our topic lessons, we have enjoyed the story, A seed in Need.  We observed the seeds that we have already planted, completed a worksheet about the life cycle of a flower and painted still life pictures of a bunch of daffodils.  We then compared seeds and bulbs.  We also tried an experiment to see what would happen if we put a daffodil in a vase of red water and another in a vase of green water.  We talked about the word 'predict'.

We have continued to practise for our little show next week.  We will retell the story of jack and the Beanstalk and sing some songs. This will take place at 9 am next Friday morning.

Happy weekend
