Peppard class - 24th November 2023

Date: 20th Nov 2023 @ 6:05pm

Welcome to our week in Peppard class.

In phonics this week, we have been learning the new sounds:

zz, qu and ch.  We have also been learning about words that have a 's' added at the end.

The tricky words we have learned are:

go, no, to, into

Please can you practise letter formation at home.  We have been working on this daily in class.

We have enjoyed some phonics games including, beat the timer, tricky word bingo, find your partner and change it.  Hopefully these fun activities help to embed the children's phonic knowledge.

We have enjoyed learning about number bonds and practising this using Numberblocks and 5 frames.  We have also been learning about one more and one less. We enjoyed playing the Bus stop game and singing rhymes that have number patterns.

We enjoyed the story Stickman and went for a walk to find our missing Stickman.  We met his Grandfather in the woods.  Stickman appeared back at school, he had been collecting the fruit for us and got stuck.  We then read the part of the story when Stickman was used as a pooh stick.  We did our own floating and sinking experiement.  We used our giant ten frames to compare our results.

We loved to hear the Autumn stories Leafman and Percy the park keeper - After the storm.  We looked at some leaves and observed their changes.  We then made our own Leafman collages.

We had a wonderful time playing our own role play 'aeroplane' game.  We travelled the world this week.  We made our own tickets, investigated the different job roles in a plane, thought about health and safety and visited South America where we used a map to find Paddington Bear.

The children enjoyed their Forest school outing.  We are very grateful for this opportunity.
