Peppard class - 19th January 2024

Date: 19th Jan 2024 @ 1:47pm

Welcome to our week in Peppard class.

We have been learning some vowel digraphs in phonics this week.  We have learned:

oo (as in book), oo (as in moon), or and ar.

We have learned the tricky words:  was, you, they

In maths, we have been learning about composition of numbers to 5, one more and one less, and conceptual subitising. We enjoyed games to support our learning of these concepts.

In our topic lessions, we enjoyed hearing the story Handa's Surprise by Eileen Browne.  The story is based in Kenya in Africa.  We talked about continents and countries.  We learned about the climate and animals who live in Kenya.  We created our own sunset pictures and discussed what a silouette is.  We cut out animal silouettes to stick on our paintings.

In continuous provision, we enjoyed using shaving foam to practise writing our letters.  We have also enjoyed the weather and rescuing the dinosaurs from the ice!
