Peppard class - 1st March 2024

Date: 26th Feb 2024 @ 2:34pm

Welcome to our week in Peppard class.
In phonics we have been practising our phonemes and graphemes learnt so far, tricky words and longer words. We are also writing words, captions and sentences.

In maths we have been identifying, sorting and ordering numbers to 9 and 10. We have been using a variety of resources to find one more. We have also been learning to write the numbers.

We have really enjoyed retelling the story Jack and the Beanstalk. We made story maps that are displayed in our corridor. The children spent ages on them! We have learnt a song and poem.

We have explored the emotion, anger. We read a story about feeling angry and talked about what makes us feel angry and how to make ourselves feel better.

In our outdoor area we made a challenging obstacle course and observed children developing confidence and balance. They chose to add a gym. We were surprised at their strength and ability to do press ups and planks!

We have explored seeds, learned about how they grow and planted our cress.

We had a lovely time at Forest School and the children weren't deterred by the rain and mud! Lots of slippery adventures and smiley faces!

We enjoyed watching a man make a willow structure for us to play in on the common. We asked him lots of questions and can't wait to see the leaves growing in the Spring.
