Welcome to our class blog

In phonics this week, we have been learning new sounds.  We have sent the sounds that we have learned home.  Please can you have a quick practise daily.  The children can show you all the actions.

We have learned

s,a t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, e

To help the children learn these sounds, we have played some games and they have also been drawing and painting them outside with chalk and water.

In maths this week, we have been learning about shapes.  We have done some fun activities to help us with our knowledge.  We played 'I am thinking of a shape' which encouraged the children to identify features of the shapes.

The children did a shape hunt in the garden where they worked in pairs to match shapes.

Finally, the children played a shape bingo game to support them with naming the shapes.

We have also been working on number recognition with a fun game called 'squirt the number'.

We have enjoyed our first outdoor PE lesson this week.  We did team games where the children practised running, galloping and jumping.  We then played a game called 'rob the nest' where children worked together to fetch as many balls as they could.

Our story this week was Elmer the elephant.  We focused on how we are individuals and unique.  We discussed how we have different next steps.  The children did pictures of the things that they are good at.

During choosing time this week, the children have loved to use our big computer board.  They have played counting games and phonics games.  We have observed the children playing together and observed some lovely sharing and negotiating as well as developing creative ideas.

We have worked with Greys class on our contribution for the Harvest Festival.  Please do come along on Wednesday.
